Naomi Long MLA

Minister for Justice, Northern Ireland Executive

Naomi Long MLA is the Justice Minister in the Northern Ireland Executive and represents the East Belfast constituency. 


Ms. Long served as Lord Mayor of Belfast between 2009 and 2010. In 2010 she became the first Alliance MP elected to Westminster, as Member of Parliament for East Belfast. In May 2016, Ms. Long returned to the Northern Ireland Assembly as MLA for East Belfast. 


The 2019 European election saw Ms Long elected as a MEP. Following the UK’s exit from the European Union and negotiations to restore devolution, Ms. Long returned to the Northern Ireland Assembly in January 2020, serving as Justice Minister until October 2022. The reestablishment of the NI Assembly and Executive in February 2024 saw Ms. Long again appointed as Justice Minister.
