The Hon Justice Mark Livesey was appointed to the Supreme Court, and was the first appointment to the new Court of Appeal of South Australia on 23 January 2020. In September 2021 he was appointed President of the Court of Appeal. After working in commercial and insurance litigation, Justice Livesey joined the Bar in July 2000 and was appointed Her Majesty’s Counsel in February 2006. He had a broad practice in commercial and civil litigation and appeals. He also appeared in arbitrations, including the arbitrations over the construction and operation of the AUD$2.4 billion new Royal Adelaide Hospital. He served as President of the South Australian Bar in 2011-2012 and President of the Australian Bar in 2014-2015.
