The Hon. Ms. Justice Elizabeth Dunne

The Honourable Ms. Justice Elizabeth Dunne was called to the Bar 1977 after studying Civil Law in University College Dublin. During her time as a Barrister, she practised in the areas of family law, commercial law, banking law, chancery and defamation law proceedings.
Ms. Justice Dunne was elected to the Bar Council, and she was a prominent figure in favour of the 1986 and 1995 Irish referendum on the legalisation of divorce. In 1996 she was appointed as a Judge of the Circuit Court, in 2004 she was appointed as a Judge of the High Court, and in July of 2013 she was appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court. In this role, Ms Justice Dunne is also the correspondent for ACA-Europe.
In April of 2024, it was announced that she would become the chairperson of the Courts Service board, a role usually held by the Chief Justice.
